Treating Pimples on Chest

When you have pimples on your chest, it can cause you to be self-conscience in certain situations. It can also make you want to choose clothes that come all the way up to your neck in order to hide the problem.

For someone who has never had the problem, it can seem rather minor. After all, at least it is, unlike facial acne, able to be hidden with clothes. While that is true, no one should have to choose their clothes based on trying to hide something.

Having pimples on your chest is not an uncommon problem, and there are effective treatment options available.

Chest and other body acne can occur in people of all ages. While it tends to be quite common in teenagers, other groups are not immune from the problem. While some think that this and other types of acne are caused by a poor diet, that is not the case. Below are some of the most common reasons for getting pimples on your chest.

Hormones

When there are changes in your hormones, it can wreak all kind of havoc in your body, including body acne. This reason makes sense of the fact that teenagers are among the most common victims of this problem.

Anytime during your life that there are changes to your hormone levels could bring on new outbreaks of body acne.

The good news is that once the hormone levels are brought back in line, the acne will usually clear up without further treatment.

Blocked Pores

Another main cause for having pimples on your chest is blocked pores. When the pores are blocked, it causes a build-up of dirt and oil, which leads to acne. There are many reasons that the pores can become clogged.  Dirt and air pollutants are common culprits. People with oily skin have a propensity to have clogged pores as well.

When you have pimples on your chest, you probably care less about the cause and more about the treatment.  Here are some ways you can start to treat body acne.

Avoid Tight Clothing

Tight clothing can contribute to the problem of clogged pores. Instead, wear clothing that does not fit tightly in the problem areas.

Soap and Water

Yes, it sounds simple, but by washing the problem area a few times a day with antibacterial soap, you might begin to see an improvement.

Over the Counter Products

You can try any of the over-the-counter products. Look for one with benzoyle peroxide. Avoid products that make promises that sound too good to be true. There is no product that can clear up your acne in one day.

Professional Help

If over the counter products are not helping, you may need to seek the help of a dermatologist. He will be able to devise a treatment plan that will help you get rid of body acne once and for all.  Treatment may include prescription strength cream, oral medications or even cosmetic procedures such as laser resurfacing.

When you have pimples on your chest, it can lower your self esteem. Don’t let the problem continue. Whether on your own or with the help of a professional, find a treatment that works for you.
